Understanding our connection to nature, one of the key inspirations for our art and classes

How Time Outdoors Fuels Creativity, Health, and Well-Being
In our fast-paced, screen-driven world, it’s easy to forget that we are part of nature. We spend most of our days indoors, disconnected from the natural rhythms of the world around us. Yet, science confirms what we intuitively know: spending intentional time in nature is one of the simplest, most powerful ways to boost creativity, improve mental health, and reduce stress.
And the best part? It doesn’t take much.
The Science Behind Nature’s Benefits
If you’ve ever felt refreshed after a walk outside, there’s a reason for that. Research shows that even short, mindful time in nature has measurable benefits for our mental clarity, emotional well-being, and creative thinking.
- Just 20 minutes in nature can lower stress by 21% (Scientific Reports, 2019). That’s a short break in a park, a walk around your neighborhood, or a moment sitting under a tree.
- Walking in nature boosts creativity by 60%, helping us generate fresh ideas and think more clearly (The Guardian, 2024). If you’ve ever had a great idea while on a walk, this is why—being outside activates the brain’s creative problem-solving networks.
- Practicing mindfulness literally reshapes the brain, increasing activity in areas associated with emotional regulation while reducing stress-related responses (The Harvard Gazette, 2018). Nature naturally encourages mindfulness—when we pay attention to the rustling leaves or shifting clouds, we’re training our minds to be present.
- Spending regular time outdoors improves cognitive function, strengthens the immune system, and enhances mood (Yale e360, 2020). Immersive natural experiences have even been linked to lower blood pressure, reduced anxiety, and improved emotional resilience.
The key isn’t just being outside—it’s how we engage with nature.

How to Spend Intentional Time in Nature
Most of us already spend time outside, but often without true awareness. We might be scrolling on our phones while sitting on a park bench, or rushing through a walk while thinking about work.
To experience real benefits, we need to make nature a mindful practice.
Here’s a simple, four-step approach based on Natural Explorer, designed to help you reconnect with nature in a way that enhances creativity, clarity, and inner balance.
Our Natural Explorer Process
-
EXPLORE
Find a local area in nature that you’d like to explore. Go there with a sense of openness, curiousity, and adventure.
-
OBSERVE
Make an intention to really notice and become aware of your experience. Engage your senses and open your mind.
-
REFLECT
Notice details, things that spark your interest, things you find beautiful. document them.
-
CREATE
After your exploration, spend time reflecting on your experience and record your findings in your Explorer’s Log.

Build a Nature Habit
Being with nature isn’t about escaping reality—it’s about reconnecting with it. And through this simple process, we will learn to reconnect with ourselves and our creativity.
If this idea speaks to you, we invite you to explore it further in our Natural Explorer class—where we guide you through a simple, thoughtful process of integrating nature, mindfulness, and creativity into your daily life.
Explore a Life of Adventure
Every time you step outside with intention, you’re giving yourself the gift of presence. Some days, it may feel small—but over time, these moments add up. They become part of you, shaping the way you see, feel, and create.
So take a breath, look around, and let yourself be here. The world is waiting for you to notice. Enjoy ✨ -M
